I have been an artist all my life. My first memory is that of "painting" my Dad
with some grape jelly that had been applied to a piece of bread. Since then I
have always painted on unusual things and used unusual methods.
I always incorporate transparency and translucency into my work. I am
fascinated by the way light plays with color. You will find bright and
saturated colors in everything I do. My work is sculptural in nature and is
often designed to be viewed from all sides.
As an artist, I am considered an "Outsider". In other words, I have never had
formal training. I consider this to be an advantage as I've never learned the
"right way" to do something. Because of this, my work is always experimental.
I play with paint, I throw paint, I paint on crumpled paper, I use plant
material to apply paint, I use plant material in my paintings. For me, there
are no rules - creating art is an adventure.
My work can be seen at Foothills Art Center in Golden.
