Barbara's Biography
Barbara Jo Misenti was born and raised in Connecticut, where she drew and painted from
the time she could hold a crayon. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree
from the University of Connecticut School of Art in painting.
Having always been fascinated by nature’s infinite detail, her paintings have focused on
natural subjects, particularly flowers. No evidence of humans shows up in her nature paintings,
though she also enjoys painting the human figure.
Barbara switched from oils to watercolor in the early 70’s. The earlier watercolor
paintings were very detailed and have now evolved into works that are leaning toward
the abstract.
Viewers can see that Barbara loves painting for the sake of painting, the brush and paint
on paper are one of the most satisfying aspects of her life. Barbara has now been painting
in Colorado for 24 years.
Her paintings have been shown in many juried shows in Colorado, as well as Texas, Taos, NM,
and California. They can be found in many private collections around Colorado.
Barbara is a signature member of the Colorado Watercolor Society
